The Gien Poesie pattern, designed by French Artist / Designer Isabelle Barthel, is nature’s promise of constant renewal, of blossoms and color in abundance! Each flower, stem, and leaf of Gien Poesie is different, denoting the bountiful wealth of nature and the detail and care that goes into the work of the Gien Manufacture.

Gien has been producing faience for almost 200 years. Faience – a fine, porous earthenware that is glazed – can be dated back to Ancient Egypt. It is a technique that was has been used and then perfected in a unique way by the Fayencerie de Gien (Gien Faience Factory) since 1821.
