Vietri started with a trip that two women and their mother took to Italy in 1983. They were so delighted with the handcrafted dinnerware their hotel used that they arranged to watch the artisans at work the next day. They were so taken in with what they observed that they felt the strong need to share it with the world. Despite the fact that the founders were not themselves Italians, Vietri Italian pottery is indisputably and quintessentially the work of artisans from the country.
